Im in the market for a immersion circulator and the Anova seems like best available. This was before I have even know about the Precision cooker. This will be a gift…for a professional chef so the time and temperature app for the phone and all that wont be of much use past a simple convenience of not having to get up to tweak the machine. So that aside

The Precision cooker has the adjustable clamp, a good feature. However it has a less powerful heater, doesn’t circulate as much water and has a smaller max capacity. Question is do these make that big of a difference? If some one didnt need the convenience of controlling the time and temp from their phone is the Anova one the better option?

Is the Anova one being discontinued? If not is that being updated? Possibly with an adjustable clamp?

I do now have both devices and yes, these features do may a big difference.

In my opinion the Precision cooker is perfect for 1-8 portions of meat or fish, or for side-dishes - there probably for a larger group too.
But I need to further look into this.

For a professional chef I would go for the One.

I made with that two gigots, 2.8kg each.

Or two tomahawk steaks, ~1.4kg each.

Especially for the tomahawks I had to use a big container.
And I doubt that the Precision cooker will be able to keep
the temperature in a thing of that size without a close to
perfect isolation. It’s out of its specification.

Frank

That does look good. Now I guess I didnt state she wouldn’t be using it for work but just to play at home but I do think I agree especially after seeing what you’ve done. My initial though was Id rather have the extra flow and capacity over new features.

Loki,
I have 2 version 1s. They are built like tanks. Your professional chef friend will likely do what chefs tend to do and that is to experiment with the food. I doubt she’ll follow recipes and , so , won’t rely on the app as much as most.
The app will be available for download for version 1 users anyway. So she’ll have access to it.
Bon appétit.

Yes I don’t feel that the app would be of much value to her.
