# Bypass descaling?

Why do we get the request to descale so often, when the manual says to use distilled water? I use nothing but distilled water in my oven, (from a home distiller) and I’m constantly getting bugged to descale the oven. Is there an easy way to turn off the descale alert? It’s driving me bonkers.

Hi ya @pmrowley

How much visible scale have you developed from how much ‘distilled water’? Truly demineralized water is expensive beyond the means of a ‘kitchen’.

Descaling should not be burdensome and will save many an appliance. Citric acid is cheap at AmaXon.

Same issue … would love to get an answer from (anova?) ?

distilled water works really fine for me for all my devices (coffee machine, APO etc … but how to avoid the descaling process please?

I use distilled water too but haven’t received any notification to descale in the 3 years I’ve been using the Oven.

Is the notification on a timer or is it based on h I w much water is it zed?
