I have cooked several chefsteps corned beef/pastrami including brining. I bought a MAple Leaf cored beef brisket and despite bad reviews thought it was pretty good. Bad reviews elsewhere but I am happy:)

Good to know. Corned beef has gotten pricey here in US lately. THe best one I have had lately came from Wal-Mart

Yes I think meat is pricier in the US than Canada these days for perhaps the first time ever. Especially if you count the whopping exchange rate.
Don't buy a lot of meat at Walmart although I do shop there but their Halal chicken is wonderful. Gives a whole new meaning to chicken. Very reasonable price and even better priced when marked down.
