# Temperature reading wildly off

So I set the mine to 175 degrees and set it off. An hour later I noticed the temperature display is at almost 200 (!). The strange this is when I touched the water, it only feels lukewarm. My own themometre says 100 degrees.
I know it worked before, because I tried cooking some eggs at 160 and it definitely felt pretty hot. The difference seems too big to be a calibration issue anyway.
Has anyone else experienced this? Are there guidelines on how to debug this?

Same thing happened to my unit after a few hours of use. Have been trying for 3 weeks to get a return processed!
