Can’t seem to figure out how to pair this device with my iPhone5, iPad, or Macbook Pro (all of which have bluetooth 4.0). I’ve tried tapping the bluetooth symbol, after which the icon flashes blue but none of my devices see it. Also tried holding the bluetooth icon for 3 seconds (icon turns a solid blue) but no luck with that as well.

Anyone have any ideas?

So from what I gather, BT 4.0 is paired inside the App and there’s no way to pair it via settings? The only way to see if BT works is to wait for the official iOS app?

Yes. You can download an app like Bluetooth smart scanner or lightblue if you just want to verify it is working.
