Explain 1-4 hours

I was looking at a recipe. The time was defined as 1:30 but when explaining the recipe, it said 1-4 hours. What does that mean???

It means that the recommended cooking time range is between 1 to 4 hours, depending on what texture/structure results youā€™re after.

Not only is there the texture variable, there is also the thickness variable. And then thereā€™s the quality variable as well.
