I got a Nano for Christmas. I am not ready to setup everything & cook, but want to explore & learn how to set the machine with the app, I heard if you turn it on without water it freaks out & can ruin it. Does plugging it in automatically turn it On? The quick start guide is so bare bones, it doesn’t answer any basic questions like this.

New user and would like to attempt a 14.5lb pork butt for New Year’s family meal. Already seasoned, prepped and bagged. Question? After much review and Youtube lessons I am still unsure of actual cook time to obtain a 139 degree temp (recommended temp by Joule). Can you help? Many thanks.
Standard answer: Weight doesn’t matter, thickness does. Rule of thumb is 2 to 2,5 cm/hr but it’s not really linear so it’s a rule of thumb.

Keep notes of your cooking and make sure you dry the surface of your meat before searing.
