I have the APO 1.0 and as of a few weeks ago, the oven no longer makes any more sounds when it preheats, finishes cooking, changes, stages, etc. I tried a unplugging it, tried a full reset, etc.
Does anyone know whether there is any sort of fix to this? We have gotten so used to it that it serves as a reminder when the food is ready and the app sometimes delays the notification so we end up forgetting about it at times and the food ends up overcooked and in a couple of cases even burned.
Mine did this to about 4yr into ownership. I was also dealing with it until I recently upgraded to 2.0. Sounds like a hardware failure based on searches I did back then.
Mine just started not making sounds recently. And yesterday the handle display would not turn off. Today the handle display/controls are unresponsive . It still works from the app.
While I expect that I’d have a claim for repair and possibly replacement by the manufacturer under UK consumer law I need my 2 APOs this week of all weeks.
I did some searching and found a reddit thread describing exactly these problems and providing a self-repair solution.
Seems the cable in the APO 1.0 snakes through a port from the main oven to a connector in the door frame where the connected cable then communicates with the display, buttons, and speaker.
Some quick disassembly, some wire trimming and soldering and the display and sound worked again.
Unlikely to be an approach that any manufacturer would endorse but needs must.
The choice of a bundle of wires over a ribbon cable is interesting. Nonetheless, thanks to ANOVA for making the door easy to disassemble and giving the wire bundle enough ‘give’ to aid disassembly and repair.
