No heat from my APO

I can program my APO and the fan works. However, none of the elements heat up. I’ve tried grill only, top and bottom, bottom only and back but it stays stone cold.
Given none of the heating elements work I am hoping it is just an internal fuse.
Can anyone advise me whether this could be the case and where I might find the fuse.
Thanks
Paul

This happened to me too. Anything powered by A/C wasn’t working. Anova refused to help.

I did manage to track the problem down to the main relay on the circuit board. Ordered the part, replaced it, and presto, for the cost of $10 I no longer need to buy an entire new oven.

Thankyou so much, I have ordered the part and will keep my fingers crossed.
When fitting, did it require any solderdering or is just like removing and putting in a new plug?

Paul

Yup, it required desoldering/soldering.

Desoldering was actually a little tricky since there are 8 pins. I tried some of the techniques in this video but wasn’t able to completely desolder it. I did get enough space between the relay and the board that I could snip the pins with a small pair of clippers, then remove the pins one-by-one.

Good luck!

Had the same issue, also isolated it to the relay. After replacing the relay my oven is back up and running.

Thanks Iamveen for the pointers :+1:

Just a note mine is the 240V version but the PCB is practically the same.

How did you isolate the issue to the relay? (Trying to figure out if my oven not heating is also due to this)

I didn’t isolate it, I just followed the findings of others on this forum, replaced the relay and it is now up and working.
Everything on my oven worked but just did not heat up at all.
Hope this helps.

Symptoms included

  • Wifi / display / etc worked… The oven “thought” it was working, but…
  • No heat
  • No light
  • No fan

Bridging the pins on the relay restored AC function, confirming a faulty relay.

Thanks. My oven two months out of warranty. Same “no A/C” symptoms. Got the part you recommended. Hardest task was desouldering. Now works again! This is the new relay.

Hi there iamveen!

I’d love to know what is the voltage of your oven (120V or 240V)? The relay power replacement part which you used, is it specifically for 240V ovens or it would also work for the US model? If not, do you happen to know the equivalent part for the US model?

Thanks :folded_hands:

Mine is 120v, so you’re fine with that part.

the more i read the happier I am that when they go on sale I always miss out on getting one. I normally receive email and they are out of stock,

Hi Paul,

If the fan and controls work but none of the elements heat, a blown internal thermal fuse / safety cut-out is very likely. These fuses sit in series with the heating circuit and will disable all elements if they fail. They’re usually mounted on the chassis near the heating area or wiring harness and can be checked with a multimeter for continuity. Most are not resettable and need replacement if blown. If the fuse is OK, the next suspects would be the temperature sensor or control board. If it’s under warranty, contact the manufacturer before opening it.Hope that helps.
