I have a Precision Oven 2.0 (AN950-20, EU model) bought in September 2025, and I would like to know whether anyone else has run into this.
I was moving the oven on the counter. The upper fresh water tank was fully seated at the time. During the move it came out of the oven on its own, fell to the floor and cracked. It leaks and can no longer hold water.
I have since checked the mechanism and it does click in properly, so the latch itself is not broken. What strikes me is the direction of the release. The manual says a tank is released by pushing it toward the back of the oven. When you push the oven forward, the tank’s own mass pushes it backward relative to the case, which is the same motion. So the gesture that releases the tank and the load produced by moving the appliance are the same thing, and with up to 2.4 litres in there that is a fair amount of mass behind it.
The knock-on effect is worse than I expected. With the tank empty or removed the oven refuses to start any cook at all, including a dry 180 C bake with Steam % set to OFF. So a cracked reservoir takes out the whole appliance, not just the steam functions.
Questions for other 2.0 owners:
Has your tank ever come out while moving or repositioning the oven?
Did it survive, and if not, how did you go about getting a replacement?
Does anyone remove and empty the tanks as a habit before moving the oven? I did not find anything in the manual suggesting it, and I would happily do that from now on if it is the accepted practice.
I do have a ticket open with support (1041956), so I am not trying to duplicate that here. Mainly I want to know whether this is a one-off or something other owners have hit, and whether a retention clip or a line in the manual would be worth suggesting.
Thanks for replying, and sorry you are stuck too. Could you share a bit more so other owners can compare? Did your tank come out while the oven was being moved, or was it a different failure? Roughly when did you ask for a replacement, and are you in the EU or the US?
Update on mine for anyone who finds this later: Anova approved a replacement upper tank on 14 September. On 7 October I was told it is on backorder, with no restock date yet. Until it arrives the oven will not start any cook, including dry modes, because it checks the tank level even with steam set to off.
has this company going bankrupt and they exit scam all the customers? what’s oing on? they are ignoring me too.. they sent me non-working oven 2.0! Scammers!
Sorry to hear that. What’s wrong with your Oven - is it a water-tank issue too, or something else? Which country are you in and how long have you been waiting for support?
They’ve told me my replacement upper water tank is on backorder, but haven’t given me any idea when it’ll be available or shipped. The tank used to be listed on their website; now I can’t find a way to buy it, while they’re still selling complete ovens at a discount. That’s frustrating when an existing customer’s oven is unusable.
I wouldn’t assume bankruptcy or a scam from that alone, but I’d really like a straight answer about when they can get our ovens working. Have they offered you a repair or replacement, or have you had no response at all?
Ugh, that’s rough — glad to hear Anova approved a replacement tank for you, banker. I’ve made it a habit to empty the tanks before moving my oven, just in case.
