I have an Anova Precision Oven Version 1.0. I’ve had it for 5 years and unfortunately it finally died on me. However, I was about to track the problem. It’s the cable in the hinge of the door. I could probably replace this myself, but I would need to be able to order the correct part. My guess this is a common issue since this seems to be a poor design flaw.
That sounds frustrating, but it’s great you’ve pinpointed the issue — door hinge cables are often the culprit in these ovens.
If you can source the replacement part, a DIY fix could save you a lot compared to replacing the whole unit.
The wires can be soldered. There’s a great guide on reddit . I fixed my second APO 1.0 earlier today. Bought a couple of months after my first its cables gave up a couple of months after my first one needed repairing. I spliced in some cat5e cable to give a bit more to work with and a bit more flexibility. I also put some flexible steel mesh over the spliced cables to increase the bend radius.
