Ice Bath Option in Wifi App

What’s the target for the next release?

@HunterC I’m new to Anova… but the ‘missing’ ice bath feature… is that different than scheduling your cook for later in the day? What I’m curious about is this…

Can I still schedule something at home (when I’m on the same network) to begin cooking later, leave it in an ice bath so that it’s cold, and remotely monitor the current temperature of the water so that, if it’s too warm I can manually start it? Is it basically that the auto-turn-on feature (that I’m guessing was present with the ice bath option) is no longer available, but we can still manually do it from a remote location? (Basically, what’s on Page 9 of the manual).

I downloaded the Anova iPhone App several days ago to look at the manual and look at recipes, and after doing this I made my purchase, on Friday or Saturday, and got next-day delivery. I made something today at home, but definitely purchased this based on the functionality found on page 9 of the manual.

Thoughts? Thanks.

I want this too!

Great news - we expect ice bath setup to be back in action in the next month or so…woohoo! Here’s some background:

We’ll keep ya posted with the exact timeline and whatnot as soon as we’ve got new details.

Wow!! I “re-invented” this and searched the internet to see if someone had thought of it. Then I saw the CNET review and said “I have got to search the app to see where it is”. Not finding it, I found this thread and was crestfallen. I hope you bring it back soon. I have the WiFi ANOVA in an ice bath right now to see how it will work, but the app does not show the “actual” temperature, just the set temperature unless you are in the cooking cycle. Hmmm… I set the temperature at 0° F and started the ANOVA. Now it shows the ice temperature, but what a funny work around.

Yesss!!!

When is this feature coming back?

Along these lines, I bought this so that I could place my meal in an ice bath before work and then log into the app to get it going while still at work. Another piece of functionality removed from the app.

I should have listened to my instinct and waited on the Joule.

It’s a bit more than it was, but Joule is still affordable. And they’ve begun shipping the big clips too!

I just bought an Anova Wi-Fi for this feature. Anova said it would be available in a month back in March. It has now been 4 months. When will this feature be back?

When will the ice bath feature be back? In March Anova said one month and it has been four.

@GMUTZ1990 Heyyyy! I’ll find out more on this for ya and report back!

Hi @AlyssaWOAH - do you have anymore info on this, please?

I emailed Anova and got this response.

Hi Glenn,

Greetings! We’ve temporarily removed the ice bath feature on the app for further development. We have to make sure the feature is stable to avoid bugs and wasted food. No ETA on the release date. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Please let me know if you have other concerns.

Seems like they are focusing more time and money on the nano than existing features. . I am returning my anova for a sous vide that has the ice bath feature. Why take something away that the customers love and never give it back. Poor customer service.

I believe still on the roadmap, but a solid ETA for its updated release is not available right now. I know this really, really sucks. :frowning: I will update the community of any new updates/announcements on this.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I bought the Anova for the Wi-Fi feature and not having an ETA after giving one is unacceptable. Returned today and will be purchasing a competitor later this week.

Hey guys an update about the ice bath feature!

The ice bath feature had a few issues we wanted to resolve before having it re-instated it into the app. These issues are proving far more challenging than we originally thought, but we’re working as fast as possible to have it re-enabled! Super sorry about the delays.

Update: the ice bath feature is currently in the testing stage. If you’re interested in using the beta version to provide feedback and suggestions before it’s finally released, let me know. You can just send me a message. Thanks!

I would like to test it!
