Insulated container

Has anyone else noticed the $149 insulated container is not stainless steel? Try sticking any kind of magnet on it. I have ones I use to submerge and separate my bags in a steel turkey pot that won’t stick to this one. What’s the deal?

Hi @Annzman

I’m not familiar with the container you are referring to, but not all stainless steel is magnetic.

To quote something I found posted on the subject: “The most common stainless steels are ‘austenitic’ - these have a higher chromium content and nickel is also added. It is the nickel which modifies the physical structure of the steel and makes it non-magnetic.”

Right Mirozen, always go shopping with a fridge magnet.

My 20 yr. old Weber grill table, and our 20 yr. old pots are Stainless and magnetic. My 2 yr. old pellet grill has a Stainless lid but it is non-magnetic. Different alloys of same metal.

I take a magnet when shopping for a pan to use with my induction cooktop, if the magnet sticks to the base it should be fine with induction cooking. Not all stainless steels will work!
