I havent looked but there is probably something covering consent in the T&C. I had that update notification and it would just hang and say communication lost after giving it a go. Now it just says cannot communicate with oven check wifi and power. My Network software says it’s not online. So they wont be pushing anything.
Ok now my oven isnt recognised either.
The oven no longer appears on my network and won’t connect to the app so not sure what magic they have developed to fix this…. seems like they are stalling for time. Also not convinced it is limited to just 145 units as suggested in the email….
In fact, there are still users reporting their oven bricking now, long after the update was supposedly pulled.
Try unplugging it and putting it back, that kind of putting it back on the grid for m3
what is the IP name/address for the oven?
Have tried that but will give it another go. Annoyingly I still have the Anova 1.0 but since you cant have two ovens on the app, and since disconnecting the A2.0 will result in “so long and goodbye” its even more frustrating!
Given the noise on the internet I dont see how its 145 either, I’m wondering whether its the Non-USA models.
Reddit says its both
I got the “145” e-mail and I’m in Vancouver, Canada
Got an email from customer support after 3 days. It said to call customer support. Wow.
So have heard a rumour on a facebook group, that Anova are going to try an push out a firmware update overnight… so keep your oven plugged in and on keep fingers crossed between 12 and 4 am local time… I am still awaiting a reply from Anova so I can’t confirm this from any official source sadly…
I can, leave it plugged in and accessible over internet - i.e on your network!
Hi y’all, my bricked oven, with black screen now, it stays connected/discoverable on wi-fi just some minutes, maybe 10, afterwards needs a restart to be back online. Is yours permanently online? Thx
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share an update on my situation after receiving a response from Bill Clark, the VP of Customer Success, following his return from holiday.
In short, Anova is being more transparent about the problem, but there’s no immediate fix.
Here’s the summary of what I learned:
- A Remote Fix Is Unlikely: Anova’s confidence in a remote fix is “low,” which aligns with our suspicions about the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity on the bricked ovens.
- A “Free” Oven? If they do manage to fix it remotely, they said we’d get to keep the oven at no cost, even if we’ve already taken the refund.
- Refunds Only for Now: Anova will not be shipping new replacement units yet. They’re only offering refunds because they need to fully resolve the root cause and ensure a new firmware update won’t cause the same issue again. This has also caused them to pause all new oven shipments.
- The Wait Continues: We can either take the refund now or hold on to our ovens. The refund option will remain open for as long as they are investigating the issue.
This confirms what many of us suspected: Anova doesn’t have a working solution right now and is prioritizing stability over a quick fix. It’s frustrating news, but at least we have a bit more honesty about the situation.
Hope this helps everyone currently dealing with this issue. Let’s keep sharing information as we get it!
Well managed to get it to firmware 11_207_1.2.17_00.00 and now it tells me 11_208_1.2.10_01.01.14 is available but it tends to hang and disappear when I try updating. Switching it off at the socket and back on again gets it back on my network and in touch with the App. Whats everybody else’s experience?
Hello Digby, thanks for the update, yes makes sense!
Have a great day ahead!
Hi Brent, did you get it to 11_207 by letting it plugged in during night and they pushed a FW to it? Or you did an update through the app? Or other? Thanks!
it appears to update via the app. I dont think you communicate directly with the oven through the App. You go through their servers I suspect. looking at my emails to Anova it was pending 11_207 before, when oI get it back online it says 11_208 is ready but just hangs. There’s no progress, it just says updating and a waiting symbol - then it says connection lost, then it drops off the network.
Got it, yes makes sense as you can command it from the street (I’m still amazed that they offer this possibility to start an oven remotely, but well)
Thanks for the answer!
