Shipping to Canada - avoiding the FedEX charge

Folks - for Canadian shoppers who aren’t interested in paying $40+ USD FedEx shipping on a $179 USD product - if you live close to the border and want to piggy-back on your trip to pick up American BBQ chips, I had my cooker shipped to a UPS store in upstate New York. Yes, FedEx will ship to a UPS Store.

When I placed my order I entered different “bill-to” and “ship-to” addresses, the “ship-to” address being the street address of the UPS store c/o my name. I drove across, bought the other stuff I was after, and picked up my cooker for a $5 USD fee. I paid only tax at the border (no duty on small kitchen appliances) and was sous vide-ing steaks that night!

Nice!
