loud sound when Anova 3.0 precision warms up

I just got my Anova 3.0 precision cooker. I am doing a test run and I need to know if I have a problem.

Test Run:

  1. Temperature 100F, Time 6 hours. Configured on iPhone.
  2. Configured Sous Vide. Water filled above the minimum Anova line.
  3. Clicked “start cooking” on the App.
  4. Unit came on. Blinking Blue light. Immediate, very loud (70 decible measured) high pitched sound. Too loud for me.
  5. When unit was within 1F of the target temperature, the sound became intermittant.
  6. When unit was within 0.3F the sound went away. The Blue light became steady. The unit appears to be functioning well

My question: Is this normal to have this very loud sound as the unit heats the water up? This is too loud. What should I do?

I found out what was wrong. It is not the Anova. I had the Anova plugged into a battery backup system since we have occasional power outages. The sound was coming from the nearby battery backup. The Anova appears to draw enough current during the warmup period to trigger the alarm system. The Anova is fine.
