when I turn it on it shuts off right away It is new and never been used.

This is not a user fixable problem.
Had the same problem with the 2nd out of third Anova I got in one month. Just returned my third today and 15 minutes later bought a joule. I don’t know why Anova has so many users when I got 3 out of 3 duds and there are so many complaints online.
…because those quality issues are relatively new. They must be having manufacturing issues at the plant in China.
I hope they can get it under control. I’ll give them another chance in a few years. The pro felt expensive when you held it and circulated tons of water. Just didn’t work which really bums me out.
