Pop Sound and Burning Smell

Hi all, I bought a new sous vide and I was trying it out for the first time in a pot, when about 1 -2 minutes into turning it on at 160F, there was a pop sound and a burning smell. I immediately turned it off and removed the sous vide machine from the pot. There was no smoke at all and when i turned it on again, the display still worked fine.

I am not sure what caused it but I have to mention that the machine was resting at the base of my pot (do not have a big enough pot yet, but the water level did not cross the max line). Can anyone advise what I should do.

Resting on the bottom of the pot would not, or at least should not have caused it. I’d suggest the best thing would to be to contact Anova Support.
