Precision Cooker keeps losing temperature

I recently received the Anova Precision Cooker as a gift. I tried it out tonight and it kept stopping the cook. I was cooking a chicken breast and had the Cooker set to 145, and it correctly heated up to the temperature, and then it just stopped. I didn’t realize what had happened until the temperature had fallen all the way to 128, at which point I tried to start it again and it gave me a “LOW” warning even though the water was well past the minimum level. I downloaded the app and tried it that way, and this time it heated back up to 145. I tried setting a timer as well, thinking it would continue cooking with the timer on, but once again it reached 145 and then just let itself fall all the way to 140 before I gave up and finished the chicken in a pan.

I am not sure if my unit is defective or if this is some kind of user error. I would appreciate any help.

I can’t imagine any user error on your part. You stumped us! On older models such as what I have, if steam gets into the electronics it can start misbehaving. Now Anova passivates the PC boards. The thing I would do is remove the outer sleeve and look at the interior, you should see a little propeller, some support rods, a heating coil, and a couple of sensor rods/thermocouples. One is the water level sensor and the other is the temperature sensor. Maybe some packing material is inside and mucking about with the sensors? Also if you can borrow another unit to try, I would do that.
